The Fashion Brands Doing Their Bit During Covid-19

Posted on

There's no doubt that Coronavirus has brought a scary and uncertain time for the retail and fashion industries, as they close their doors and slow down supply chains, with no confirmed end in sight. That makes the decisions that some brands have made even kinder - in a time of crisis for their own businesses, they are still doing their bit to support the Covid-19 relief effort. Be it huge discounts or gifts for our NHS heroes or making face masks, there are some really positive and beautiful gestures out there that deserve to be shared. In particular, if you have a friend or family member who works for the NHS - share the love!

The famously stunning bridal brand has announced a new "heroes collection", which means all hospital-working-brides can bag themselves a FREE Pronovias wedding dress between now and the end of August. Pronovias' artistic director, describes NHS working women as the soldiers that are helping us to overcome the pandemic.

Kurt Geiger

Once Kurt Geiger closed all of its stores and furloughed many of its staff, it enabled its workforce to volunteer for the NHS as part of the community effort to fight Covid-19. They are now focused on "small acts of kindness" - arming each store manager with 55 x £100 vouchers which they have the discretion to give anyone working for the NHS. How wonderful! Even better, all NHS workers will get 50% off at Kurt Geiger for the whole year.

Burberry has repurposed once of its factories in Yorkshire, which used to make its legend-status trench coats, to make non-surgical grade gowns and masks for the healthcare workforce in British hospitals. They have also made a sizeable donation to the fund at the University of Oxford that is researching a single-dose vaccine for Covid-19, as well as supporting charities such as The Felix Project and FareShare (both food poverty charities).

 Grenson Shoes

A favourite brand amongst British celebs, Grenson Shoes are giving a free pair of shoes to an NHS hero everyday. All you have to do is post a photo on Instagram of an NHS worker you know with the hashtag #grensonheroes and they'll pick a winner at the end of each day. The campaign will continue until the emergency is over!

Desmond & Dempsey

Desmond & Dempsey have launched a campaign called the Gift4Good Initiative. All you have to do is nominate someone you think is deserving of a free gift (pyjamas, socks or an eye mask) and they'll be in with a chance to be gifted something. These items were meant to be part of D&D's sample sale which had to be cancelled due to the crisis.
